MACSIS 2023: Family School Improvement Survey

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS): Monday 28 August – Friday 15 September 2023

Today, all families will receive an invitation to complete Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Survey (MACSSIS).

In 2023, our school is participating in Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school. MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that each school can focus on. Our school believes it is important to encourage families to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school.

Today you will receive a link and PIN to the Family Survey which is available online, and can be accessed until Friday 15 September 2023. This survey may only be completed once.

The school has invited every family to respond via this survey yet participation is completely voluntary. There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers – all responses are completely anonymous and at no point are any of the responses from students, families or staff identifiable by the school.

The survey is available in English, Arabic, Assyrian, Chaldean, simplified and traditional Chinese, Dinka, Falam, Hakfa Chin, Karen, Tagalog, Vietnamese and Zomi.

Thank you in advance for your participation in the MACSSIS family survey.

Movie Night

Our Movie Night was a huge success last Friday night. Children enjoyed snacking on their gelati and popcorn while watching the movie.

A huge thank you to our PFA and parent helpers for orchestrating the event.

Hope you all enjoyed a couple of hours of peace and quiet.

Farewell Fr John

On Sunday 20th August we celebrated Fr John O'Connor's 25th Anniversary of Priesthood with Mass and a magnificent afternoon tea at St Augustine's Yarraville. It was wonderful to see so many people attend as it was also a way to say goodbye.

This Friday we will farewell Fr John as he leaves to take up the Parish Preist role in Kingsbury/Preston East. We thank him for 14 years of leadership and guidance and for the wonderful support that he has provided to me and all at Corpus Christi School.

Headlice

We have a reported case of head lice at Corpus Christi School. This is not a cause for serious concern, as your child may not be affected. However, head lice are extremely contagious.

In order to determine if your child has been infected with head lice, we are asking all parents to inspect their child’s hair. We suggest that you look for the following symptoms or signs that would indicate the presence of head lice:

  • General: child scratching his/her head excessively
  • On pillows: fine black powder or pale-coloured material
  • In the hair: signs of lice eggs (nits) – cream or coffee-coloured specks close to hair roots
  • Lice: small white or “greyish” parasites the approximate size of a pinhead

If you notice any of the above signs, or if you require further information, please contact your local pharmacy.  There are several effective treatments readily available and easy to apply.

If your child is infected with head lice you MUST advise the school and you MUST treat your child before they return to school.

To minimise the impact of a head lice outbreak we ask all parents to regularly check their child’s hair for the presence of head lice.

Footy Colours Dress Up Day

This Friday we will celebrate the AFL final series with the return of our annual ‘Footy Colours Dress-Up Day’.

On this day children are invited to wear their favourite AFL team colours to school and I hope to see a sea of black and white (Go Pies!)

Fathers' Day Brekky

Also on Friday, we will kick off Fathers' Day Weekend (ha ha), with our Fathers’ Day Breakfast.

Breakfast will be served from 8:00 am until 8:45 am and what better to serve dad than a hot bacon and egg roll? Don’t forget to wear your Footy Colours to school (dads and children)!

Fathers' Day Stall

Following breakfast our Fathers’ Day Stall will open. There will be a myriad of gifts to choose from starting from as little as $2.00. It is up to each family to decide what would be an appropriate amount to spend.

Fathers' Day Helpers

Thank you to all parents who volunteered to help out with either the Fathers' Day Breakfast or Stall. We will be in contact with those (who have valid WWCCs) to inform you of your role.
