It was wonderful to be involved in Pirate Day today. Congratulations to Room 25, Miss Morley’s Year 3 class, for all of their hard work in making the props for this assembly, providing an entertaining pirate song, and organizing the Pirate Parade. Thank you to all of the students and staff who supported this worthwhile cause by dressing up as pirates as well as providing a gold coin donation in support of childhood brain cancer research.
Our new undercover area, Karrakin Block, has had a mosaic installed representing the red-tailed black cockatoo. Karrakin means the place of the red-tailed black cockatoo. We are waiting for the signage of Karrakin Block to be installed next to the mosaic.
We will be running our school board elections for parent representatives early next term. I encourage our parents to attend our next board meeting to see how our board operates. Our board meeting is Wednesday 6th September from 6:00-7:30pm in the school hall. If you would like to know more about our school board, please contact Reception on 9266 6200 for the contact number of our Board Chair Mr Brad Warburton.
The copper logs surrounding the Junior Playground will be removed next week and replaced with limestone blocks. The sand area will be enlarged to make sure the play equipment is within Australian Standards to the edge of the limestone. I’m expecting the temporary fencing installed around this area to remain for the rest of next week.
We are still finding a large number of school uniforms, particularly jackets, being left on the grounds around the school. I encourage parents/carers to check the stage in the undercover area if their child is missing a jacket or hat. This morning I counted 27 jumpers on the stage as lost property.
