Term 3 Weeks 9 & 10

LITERACY:

Reading - When reading, we are focusing on retelling the story in our own words, in particular explaining what we have read.

Writing - We are continuing to write narratives this term. We are working on publishing a narrative written in class. We will continue to focus on the use of capital letters at the start of sentences and for the name of people and places as well as the use of full stops, exclamation marks, and question marks to signal the end of a sentence.

Spelling - The last two weeks of term three see us revising, reflecting and using all of the grapheme (sounds) taught this term.

MATH: We are continuing to work on multiplication. We will be using repeated addition to calculate addition equations as well as using arrays to multiply numbers together. We will also compare areas of objects using informal units of measurement.

INQUIRY: This term we are exploring the area of Science. We will be watching the Lorax and discussing the importance of looking out for our environment. We will also finish off our term of cooking with a yummy treat!

Remember each student is aiming to get 200 nights of reading across the year to get a ticket to the Pizza Party! A reminder that your child also has a log in to mathseeds which they can access from home should they wish.

Our Mascots

Our Mascots are heading to your homes again during term 3. Bessy is going home with the children in 2MD and Bob is going home with the children in 2W. They will come home on a Wednesday and are expected to be returned on the following Monday. We have loved seeing what the mascots have been up to with the children so far and have seen some amazing handwriting from the children that they have then read and shared with their classes.
