Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the end of a very busy Term 3, we have a lot to celebrate and acknowledge. We had a large number of students attend District Athletics with several making through to Divisional. We received outstanding feedback from other schools about how kind, respectful and how considerate our students were. They all displayed outstanding sportsperson-ship. Once again, our student’s are Proud to Shine! Our 5-6 students have headed off to Camp Rumbug. We wish them all the best and I am sure they will have an outstanding time!

On Friday we had our Father’s Day and Special Persons afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many people sharing Maths games, making paper planes and eating lots of special food made by our students. On behalf of everyone at Somerville Primary School, I hope all of the Dads and special people had a wonderful Father’s Day.

As a follow up to our email regarding stranger danger, I’d like to remind all family members that you cannot approach and speak to students in the yard who are not your children. This can be confronting for students and our school is a safe space for them. This coincides with the Community Protection Order Scheme which was sent out earlier this year. If you would like to discuss this, please contact the office.

Thank you to everyone who completed the Parent Opinion Survey. We had more than double the respondents from 2022. Following the Parent Opinion Survey and the Communication Survey earlier in the year Somerville Primary School will be moving to Compass instead of Sentral from the beginning of Term 4. All families will receive a letter early next week from our school with the details they need for Compass. A large number of our families already use Compass for their children at high school; we will spend Term 4 working with parents and staff as we learn a new system, however the outcome will be improved communication for all community members.

As part of our school modernisation project the Prep Classrooms are having new carpet installed this week. The carpet in the main part of the Library has been completed as well as the new entrance into the Library. Over the next few weeks the walls in the Library and Prep Classrooms will be covered in acoustic panelling. This will provide a better learning experience for the students as well as modernisation of the classrooms!

Well done to all of our amazing readers, we have so many students who have read for over 200 nights! Keep up the great work!

Congratulations on awards

We hope you have a great weekend.
