Blue EDGE - Highlights from Year 8 and 9 students

This term 19 of our Year 8 and 9 students took part in Blue EDGE — an energetic, early‑intervention program that blends fitness with practical life skills. For the whole of Term 2 these students met weekly in a safe, supportive space, working alongside positive role models from police and emergency services. The result was a real shift in confidence and connection.

Delivered in small groups across eight hands‑on weekly sessions, Blue EDGE pairs fun fitness challenges with practical workshops. The program purposefully mixes students who may  have been disengaged or facing personal or mental‑health challenges with peers and who want to build fitness, leadership and stronger friendships — creating an inclusive environment where everyone contributes and learns.

  • Workshop topics covered
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Healthy and Safe Decision Making
  • Empathy in Action

We saw greater resilience, students spoke more openly about managing stress and asking for support. As the term went on, we saw stronger connections as students built trust with each other and with the emergency‑services mentors, often continuing conversations back in class. Students developed leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills through both physical challenges and reflective workshops.

We’re proud of the 19 students who committed to Blue EDGE this term. Programs like this help create stronger connections between school, community services and our young people — building safer, healthier pathways for everyone.
