Year 7 / 8 Boys & Girls Netball

The Year 8 boys had convincing wins over Sale College and Kurnai, progressing through to the Gippsland round. Lachie Marshall, Kodi Ratten, and Mason McLernon shot well with great accuracy. Levi Veentra, Riddick Johnson, and Rex Hamilton ran the midcourt with speed and driving power. While Logan Powell, Leo Coates, Josh Joromat, and Michael Delaney supplied great defensive pressure, intercepting and rebounding. Darcy Hanson has supported the team attending tryouts and trainings, and gave great insight on the day. Thank you Darcy, and congratulations to the team.

The Year 7 boys started the day off well, beating Sale College and Kurnai. The team showed great teamwork and connected well down the court. Kodie Winter showed great vision and placement and controlled the play well in the centre position. Keonte Taiapa-Tama and Brock Hensgen shot well. Keonte dominated the scoreboard shooting a majority of goals. Logan Jensen also assisted in wing attack. Flynn Preston, Carter Robinson and Wyatt Gieschen dominated in defence, all held tight defence with a large amount of turn overs and intercepts. The boys had a slow start to game against Lavalla and were unable to make up score losing. Congratulations to boys on a great day, I look forward to watching your growth in upcoming years.

The Year 7 girls started with a loss to a strong Lavalla, but had a win against Yarram. Isla Molphy, Jasmine Howden and Harper Parsons were the main shooters and worked well together. Lucinda Lanigan, Jailyn Pratt, Emily Gabbett showed great movement and control in the mid court, while Georgia Robinson, Charlotte Daly, Darci Adams and Ruby Cassidy had strong defensive pressure, creating turnovers and intercepts. 

The Year 8 girls came up against strong competition unable to secure a win for the day, with a majority not playing netball out of school, students showed great improvement as the day went on. Zara McKinnon, Bridie Hunt and Ever Forsyth were goal shooters for the day, Lahni Bellion, Felicity Brooks, Elise Smith, Sophia Collins held up pressure in the defence and Kirah Heron, Evie Dierickx, Kelsey-Rose Hasler ran the mid court, connecting team passages of play. A big thank you to Chani Aust, who attending try outs and training and coaching on the day, Chani showed great knowledge of the game.

Also thank you to Mollie Delaney for umpiring for the day. A big thank you to Ms.Hon for assisting on day and Xander Brooks for helping day run smoothly with 

timing and recording results.
