Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

The end of Term 2 came around very quickly, with a number of wonderful events and celebrations filling the last few weeks—some of which are highlighted in this newsletter. We are now off to a fabulous start to Term 3! Our students have returned to school ready to continue their learning and excited to catch up with their friends.

Staff Professional Learning

On Monday, 20th July, our staff travelled to Warialda to join colleagues from the smaller schools within our diocese. We spent the day unpacking new curriculum documents in preparation for their implementation in 2027. We are very much looking forward to collaborating with the staff from St Joseph’s, Warialda, and St Joseph’s, Mungindi, again in Term 4.

On Tuesday, 21st July, staff gathered in Gunnedah for our fourth and final Professional Learning session with the Berry Street Education Model, gaining valuable strategies to support student well-being and engagement.

Student-Led Conferences

Over the next two weeks, students, parents, and teachers will gather for our Student-Led Conferences. This is a special opportunity for students to share their learning journey and celebrate their achievements from the first half of the year.

Students and teachers have been busy preparing, with students taking real ownership of their learning and reflecting on work they are proud of. They have also been setting goals for the upcoming semester and identifying key areas for growth.

Bookings are now open via the Compass portal. Please contact the school office if you require assistance.

If you are unavailable during the scheduled timeslots, please contact your child’s class teacher to arrange an alternative time to meet.

Our upcoming Student-Led Conferences are a wonderful reflection of our Living Well, Learning Well philosophy, which emphasises self-reflection, and strong family-school partnerships at the heart of education. By encouraging our students to take ownership of their learning in a safe and supportive environment, we help them grow into confident, capable learners both inside and outside the classroom.

We look forward to another great term here at Sacred Heart.

Warm regards,

Leanne Herden

Principal
