Giving Our Best: Reflections on Semester One

Principal's Report
As we come to the end of Semester One and Term Two, it is important to pause and acknowledge the significance of the first half of the school year. Across Year 7 to Year 12, our students have engaged deeply in their learning, built important relationships, developed routines and taken part in experiences that continue to shape their growth as young people.
This term has been rich with learning, challenge and opportunity. Our senior students have completed the GAT this week, Year 10 and Year 11 students have undertaken exams, and our Year 10 students have participated in Mock Job Interviews as part of their careers and pathways learning. Students have also embraced Outdoor Education camps, interschool sporting competitions across all year levels, Careers Week, National Reconciliation Week, Pride Week celebrations and World Environment Day. These events and activities reflect the breadth of education at MGC and the many ways students learn, lead and contribute beyond the classroom.
With Semester One reports to be released at the end of next week, I encourage families to take time together to reflect on progress, effort and growth. Reports provide an important opportunity to celebrate achievements, consider areas for improvement and set meaningful learning and personal goals for the second half of the year. At MGC, we continue to remind students that success is not about being the best; it is about giving your best.
As we look ahead, I am also pleased to share that the college is about to commence an exciting, school funded capital works project. This project will see the construction of a new learning precinct in the area where two of our older portables are currently positioned near the netball courts. This is an exciting investment in the future learning environment of our students, and we look forward to sharing more information with our community soon.
I wish all students, staff and families a safe and restful break, and I look forward to a positive and productive Semester Two.
