Week 3 Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is with sadness that I announce the passing of Fr Linh's father (Joseph Luan Pham)  in Vietnam. May he now rest in the loving embrace of the eternal Father. We hold Linh and his family in our prayers during this time. Fr Linh has flown home to be with his family at this very difficult time and is expected to be away for at least three weeks.

Saint Fidelis' Feast Day

Thank you to Fr Tran  for celebrating such a lovely Mass for our Feast Day last Wednesday.  The children were exceptional at mass in the way they responded and read the prayers and was noted and appreciated by Fr Tran.

Thank you to all the parents or carers who were able to attend mass. This makes it extra special when the families are in attendance.

The children had a lovely day,  participating in the ANZAC Day ceremony,  followed by a day of cross age activities and enjoying Lunch Order day organised by our Parents and Friends.

PARENT/GUARDIAN/CARER CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY

As mentioned last week, we are currently updating some of the new policies that have been distributed to schools over the past couple of years by MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools).

The Parent/Guardian/Carer Code of Conduct provides clear guidelines to all parents and visitors regarding the conduct expected of them while in a school environment, engaging in school related activities or representing the school.

Some families will receive a Parent Code of Conduct Policy which I require you to read and sign and return to school as soon as possible. If you don't receive this form, this means we have your updated your form in our files.  These forms have now been distributed to the families that require them to be signed and returned by the end of the week.

Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to update policies from MACS to all Catholic Schools.

Doris Blackburn Kindergarten Visiting St Fidelis

The 4-year-old groups from Doris Blackburn Kindergarten, are visiting our school this week for a Robotics lesson in our STEM Space. Doris Blackburn Kindergarten is our main feeder kindergarten and we have a long-standing relationship with them. Other neighbouring Kindergartens will also visit our school in the coming weeks.

Mr Frazzetto, Ms Wenckowski and some of our older students will assist the kindergarten children with a STEM activity.  We look forward to having the students at our school.

Winter Uniform

This week, all children should be in full winter uniform. PSW have 30% sale on the woollen jumpers (if you prefer these ) and bucket and slouch hats at 30% off.

Winter Colds

At St Fidelis, we continue to use hygienic measures daily such as hand sanitising before and after eating, washing hands after going to the toilet, using tissues and disposing them in the bin after use and air purifiers are allocated in all areas of the school.

If your child is presenting with cold-like symptoms, it would be appreciated if you keep them home to ensure that germs are not spread in the classroom. If your child is sick at school and demonstrates any cold-like symptoms, parents will be called to come and pick up their child. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding  with this request.

Child Safe

The learning community of St. Fidelis Catholic Primary school is committed to the wellbeing and safety of all children.  Our interactions with all in our community is founded on respect for each person.  Within a catholic community this respect of each individual, is rooted in the belief that each person is made in the image and likeness of God. Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Child Safe Standard 5-Diversity and Equity

At St. Fidelis Catholic Primary School diversity of cultures, languages and abilities are upheld.  There are many ways in which we as a community enable equity to be upheld and diverse needs are respected.

In our community, new families are warmly welcomed with personal school tours by the principal or a member of the school leadership team. Introductory faith workshops for any newly enrolled families, a formal individual meet and greet with family and child, and an extensive transition program for new students, enable the families to feel a sense of welcome that their individual circumstances and needs are met. Families from other religious backgrounds are valued and their beliefs respected in our community. Children from vulnerable backgrounds and with diverse abilities are supported by staff in safe and accessible ways.  In these ways, the multiplicity of voices and practices are upheld and respected in the belief that all people are made in God’s likeness.

Have a lovely week,

Manuela
