Mother’s Day Breakfast

Mr Parkes circulated some Mother’s Day Breakfast information via Compass recently. Please check that post, as we would love to have you with us for breakfast in the morning.

Parent Club and Mrs Leed facilitated the creation of a Mother’s & Special Friend’s Day gift again this year. Families can place an order for gifts via the Canteen module in Compass, if they haven't already done so. In addition to this, families can also place an order for Mother’s & Special Friend’s Day breakfast, taking place in the Hub tomorrow morning - Friday 10th May from 7:00am to 8:30am.

The gift is a great opportunity for students to make something special for their loved ones, but it is also a valuable fundraiser for our school and the brekky is an awesome way to celebrate Mother’s Day. Thank you very much for your support.

Positive Partnerships PD - Autism

Mr Parkes, Mrs Todeschini (Grade 1/2 teacher & Inclusion Leader) and I really enjoyed the opportunity to spend the last two days learning more about autism, and how we can better support our autistic children and their families. We found the workshop affirming, thought-provoking and rich with quality resources.

As mentioned in a previous Compass post, the Positive Partnerships team is hosting a free two-day workshop for parents, carers and grandparents. Although this event is now 'sold out', you can join a waiting list - see below for more details.

School Review

Our School Review is fast approaching (early Term 3) and we are continuing to work with our staff on completing the Pre-review Self-evaluation (PRSE), which essentially summarises our performance over the last four years, with a particular focus on student learning, wellbeing and engagement.

As part of the PRSE process, we will soon be asking our SGPS families to complete a short survey...it only has two questions and will only take a few minutes to complete! We will basically be asking you to tell us what we do well and where you think there are some opportunities to be even better. This way we can keep doing those things that are highly valued by our families, while also identifying some opportunities to explore over the next Strategic Plan period.

Education Week - 13th May to 17th May

This year, Education Week runs from Monday 13 May to Friday 17 May. The theme, Spotlight on STEM, celebrates the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in our everyday lives, in the classroom and beyond.

Education Week is an opportunity for our school to celebrate and share with you how we encourage our students to be active learners.

The following activities will be part of Education Week next week:

Wednesday - Prospective Prep Information Night @ 6.30pm

Thursday - Open Morning for Prospective Prep Families from 9.00am-10.30am

Friday - Parents/Carers invited to visit their child’s class from 2.15pm until the end of the day.

Please note that the Prospective Prep Information Night (more details below) is aimed at families who are considering enrolling their child at SGPS in 2025. There will be another information night later this year for confirmed enrolments. Our current families are not required to attend on Wednesday night, although you are most welcome to do so.

Prospective Prep Parent Information Evening - Wednesday, 15th May at 6:30pm

This information evening aims to provide parents of children beginning school in 2025 with an understanding of Spring Gully Primary School and all that we have to offer. The evening will provide an overview of the curriculum and information regarding the wellbeing and specialist programs that are in place. We will include information about how you can become part of our school community and how you can be involved in your child’s education. It is also an opportunity to meet current Prep teachers, Mr Parkes and myself. The evening will conclude with time to answer any questions that you may have.
