School Administrative Staff Development Day

As part of our school's administrative team, we extend our gratitude to Mr. Forrester for allowing us to participate in the Kingscliff SASS Staff Development Day.

On Sunday, April 28th, six of our staff members traveled to Kingscliff to engage in face-to-face workshops organized by the Learning team on April 29th. During the day, our staff took part in several enlightening sessions:

"Mental Health is Everyone's Business": We had the privilege of listening to a keynote speaker from the Black Dog Institute share his personal journey with bipolar disorder and mental health. His insights sparked valuable discussions on how we can enhance support for ourselves, staff, students, and the community's mental well-being.

"Problem Solving in the School Environment": This interactive session involved lively discussions on problem-solving strategies for various scenarios. Additionally, teams competed in the Spaghetti Tower Marshmallow Challenge, where they had 30 minutes to construct the tallest tower capable of supporting a marshmallow. Although our table didn't emerge victorious, we enjoyed the challenge.

In the third session, staff had the opportunity to choose between two options: understanding the Audit Process or attending the Inclusion 101 session. Both sessions provided valuable insights into ways we can better support our school and students.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Learning Support Team for organizing such an enriching Staff Development Day. The presenters were outstanding, and the food was simply delicious!
