SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Launching our values over the last two weeks has been a very positive experience after long consultation with students, parents and staff as part of our School Wide Positive Behaviours Program. It's great to see the stickers on staff and students' laptops, which helps keep these values visible.
Our values are:
We are Respectful
We are Resilient
We are Kind
We try our Best
Our focus through this work is on creating a school where everyone feels safe and supported and can thrive. When we work together as a community, we support each other to achieve greatness. This was evident this week when we received nominations from parents, staff, and students to join our School Council and filled all positions. I am very excited to work with the new School Council in 2025, and am looking forward to our AGM and first meeting on March 25th. The new councillors will join for two years with existing members who are in the middle of their term, which makes sure that we have some continuity from year to year. Keep an eye out on Facebook for some parent profiles to meet your new School Councillors. Any parents or students who would like to join a sub-committee can be co-opted and do not need to attend all school council meetings.
Our sub-committees are:
Finance
Facilities
Teaching & Learning /Wellbeing & Inclusion
Policy review
Please contact Naomi Coleman or Brad Beach if you would like to be part of one of these small working groups.
I have been very fortunate to network with some wonderful community members over the last few weeks, to develop the concept of a running track around our school which will incorporate some CrossFit stations for the students to use for active play. Students at our school have given feedback over the last few years that we don’t have any play equipment, and in that time we have used grant money to purchase three CrossFit stations which have been in storage, waiting for our building project to be finished and signed off. There are three more stations that can be added in future.
On Wednesday, a diverse group of people came together to work through the vision for the running track and to plan Stage 1, which is the installation of the CrossFit stations. We welcomed representatives from:
The Lions Club, who will meet next week to consider how they can support this project
ACHPER (Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation), who awarded grants for the purchase of the CrossFit stations over the last few years
A-Space, the suppliers and installers of the equipment
School Council Facilities subcommittee
Proposed Jumbunna Rail Trail
I was delighted with the meeting and have received positive feedback from many of the participants. The Student Run Council will meet on Monday, and SRC leader Rhiannon Rawlins is preparing a PowerPoint presentation of the CrossFit stations for this group. They will then create a plan to inform the wider student body.
Our School Council Facilities subcommittee is sourcing quotes from suppliers for the soft fall and we hope to have more news in the next newsletter about proposed dates for installation.
This is an exciting community-driven project and an example of achieving great things for our students by working together. I encourage any parents who would like to contribute to our great school to contact us and get involved.
