Parent-in Touch and R U OK? Day: 26- 27 March

R U OK? Day

Saints celebrates R U OK? Day on Thursday 27 March following our Parents-in-Touch seminar the day before at 5:30pm in Lennon Hall. Please support both functions.

Parents-in-Touch

To be held on Wednesday 26 March, this is an open event. So please invite friends, neighbours, anyone you think might gain by this presentation of emotional intelligence, and how to foster and promote EI in adolescents. Our presenters are from the local charity Kick On. The event will be informative, lively and encouraging for parents and carers and present some great ideas and skills. Parents will gain an insight into the Kick On presentation our students will enjoy the next day. It will also be useful as a stand-alone session for parents with students at other schools.

R U OK? Day

We have a big program planned for R U OK? Day to be held on Thursday 27 March. You can read about R U OK? here. Our purpose is to bring to mind messages of care for one another, promoting good mental health, further developing awareness and skills to foster mental health and good relationships within our college. We run our R U OK? Day now rather than on the national day in September because we want to promote these important mental health messages early rather than late in the academic year.

Our program includes:

WEAR IT YELLOW – boys may come to the College on the day with silly hats, ties and socks. Yellow is the R U OK? Day colour so we would like to make a splash!

  • Pavement Art from 7:30am. The theme is We are in this together. Chalks will be provided for drawing creative, respectful, positive message on our theme. The art spaces are the white concrete paths from Lavalla to Lennon Hall.
  • Homerooms as normal at 8:40am.
  • Period 2 is assembly in Lennon Hall with a presentation by Kick On.
  • Recess (11am) The College provides a sausage sizzle. Periods 3 & 4 as normal.
  • Lunch (1:15pm) sports event on the basketball court. Periods 5 & 6 as normal.

We anticipate a great day.

Student protection contacts

Last week some staff attended their biannual student protection officer training conducted by CEDC. Saints has eight student protection contacts (SPCs). An SPC's role is to offer a means for any student or parent to raise concerns about behaviours, language or activities that may place a student in danger of sexual abuse or other significant harm either physical or social/emotional. An SPC's responsibilities are described below.

Pictures of SPCs are well displayed around the school, but possibly not within easy sight of parents or carers. Our SPCs for 2025 are:
