 Dear Lord

Open our ears to hear what you are saying to us in the things that happen to us and in the people we meet, to listen to their hopes and dreams, the joys and sorrows.

Open our eyes to see the needs of the people around us, to see you in the smallest, the weakest, the lonely, in those who battle daily.

Open our hands to respond to your call when help is needed, when others need our gifts and talents.

Open our minds to discover new truths about you and the world, to discover new ways to bring your message to those in our car.

I think of the many people who find various ways to be close to the sick, becoming a sign of the Lord’s presence for them. We need this “miracle of tenderness” to accompany those who face adversity in order to bring a little light into the night of pain.
