Feast of St Joseph

What a beautiful celebration it was to come together and celebrate the feast day of our school's Patron Saint, Saint Joseph on Wednesday. The students were congratulated on their reverence and participation in this special mass which, as is tradition here in Barraba, is an outdoor mass. A special thank you to all the Year 5 & 6 students along with Mrs Anderson for preparing the mass, including writing their own prayers of the faithful. A shout out to Angus who had his first go at altar serving, well done Gus!

Here is the introduction from the mass, so confidently read by Ava-Jane and Benitto.

Saint Joseph was the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the foster-father of Jesus. He was a very good and patient man. Even though he never speaks in the Bible, Saint Joseph was a man of action. When God told him in a dream that it was okay to marry Mary, and when God told him to go to Egypt to save Jesus from Herod, Saint Joseph listened. He always obeyed God even though he did not always understand.

Through his love and care for Jesus and Mary, Saint Joseph showed his love for God. Because he trusted God, Saint Joseph allowed Him to work in his life. Trusting God can be very hard, especially when we cannot see how our story will end or why God is asking us to do something. We can pray to Saint Joseph to help us trust God just as he did.

St Joseph, pray for us.

First Reconciliation

Please keep in your prayers our young people preparing to make their First Reconciliation next Wednesday. They have been busy learning about the importance of being a good friend to Jesus and others.

Ruby Mae Kindess Day

On Tuesday in the spirit of Lent, and in memory of beautiful Barraba girl Ruby Mae, bathed in all hues of purple, the staff and students got busy with the business of spreading joy and kindess beyond our school's front gate. Here are some ways we spread kindess and took time to mindfully think of others:

  • Cards of appreciation were distributed to health workers in Barraba
  • Puzzle packs have been given to residents of Gavin House and Richardson House
  • Years 3/4/5/6 visited residents of Richardson House and Garvin House where they got to catch up with some friends made from visits last year
  • Movies created of our young people sharing what they are grateful for (check these out on Facebook!)
  • A school disco for our K/1/2 to dance like no one is watching!
  • Random letterbox drops across town
  • Time for care for our environment at school

A massive shout out to Mrs Phillips who took on the huge role of coordinating this special day for us, we are grateful for you!
