Year 9 STEM In Sport – Ice Skating

Creating Futures Together

On Monday 13th May the Year 9 STEM In Sport elective went to O’Brien Icehouse for an ice-skating experience. This was after some class time looking at how skates are engineered to the specifics of different ice sports such as ice hockey, speed skating and figure skating.

The day began with a skating lesson to learn the basics such as starting, stopping, turning and how to fall safely, then they put the pads on to try their hand at ice hockey which was a real highlight!
