Sport

It’s been another busy fortnight in PE, here are some of the highlights;

Whitehorse Division Cross Country

Last week, 15 of our Level 3-6 students competed in the Whitehorse Division Cross Country at Ruffey Lake in Doncaster. These students had finished in the top 10 of their age group at the Nunawading District Cross Country earlier in May. Our students demonstrated fantastic determination and tremendous support for each other, achieving impressive results throughout the day.

Congratulations to the following students who finished in the top 12 out of the 60 competitors and have progressed to the Eastern Regional Cross Country at Yarra Glen next week, making this our largest Regional team ever!

  • Under 10 Boys: Zach W (6th)
  • Under 10 Girls: Rayani R (1st), Edie R (9th)
  • Under 11 Boys: Riyon R (2nd), Ollie C (8th)
  • Under 11 Girls: Collette C (1st)
  • Under 12 Boys: Jared S (1st), Will D (2nd), Henry A (7th)
  • Under 12 Girls: Gisele F (10th)

Level 3/4 Hoop Time

We had a fantastic day at our Level 3/4 Hoop Time event earlier this week at Nunawading Stadium. Over 90 of our Level 3/4 students proudly represented our school, showcasing exceptional teamwork, skill, school spirit, integrity, and respect.

We are very grateful to the many families who came to support the students throughout the day. A special thank you also goes to Tim and Margi for volunteering their time to coach, as well as to some of our wonderful Level 6 students who also coached several teams.

Rangeview played 44 games across 10 teams, achieving an impressive record of 39 wins and only 5 losses! Congratulations to our Mixed team, the Rangeview Rhinos, for winning the Grand Final and advancing to the Regional finals in October. Our Boys All-Star team also received a wildcard entry to the Regional finals after a narrow defeat in the Grand Final against a very strong team. Go Rangeview!

Rangeview Swimming Program

Over the last fortnight, our Level 1-6 students participated in their swimming program at Aqualink Nunawading (Just Swimming) With a strong focus on swimming technique, water-safety skills, and other essential swimming abilities, over 600 of our students who participated in the program have significantly improved their competence and confidence in the water. In the coming weeks, all participants will receive a certificate detailing their swimming level and achievements. We extend our thanks to the Rangeview staff and parent helpers who supported the program, thank you as well to Jenny and the team at ‘Just Swimming for the wonderful program our students got to participate in. These programs equip our students with vital skills for participation in camps and swimming events throughout their senior years of primary school

Level 4 Sports Extension Program

This year, we are excited to once again offer our Level 4 Sports Extension Group. This program provides a unique opportunity for children with a keen interest and passion for sports to engage in specialised training and activities. Designed to enhance coordination, teamwork, and performance, the program also introduces new challenges to help participants grow and excel in their chosen sports.

The objectives of the program are to develop sporting skills, enhance coordination, foster teamwork, improve performance, and present new challenges. The program will take place on Fridays during Term 3. Due to the limited number of spots available, we will be sending out an expression of interest form to Level 4 families in the coming fortnight, inviting them to sign their child up for this exciting opportunity.
