CURRICULUM FOCUS
This week students are learning to understand the purpose as well as the features of transactional texts, with a focus on letter writing.
VOCABULARY
Transactional Letter: a written, typed, or printed communication, sent in an envelope by post
Audience: Who you are writing the letter to.
Purpose: We write letters to communicate a message to another person.
Greeting: The start of a text, used to address a person.
Signing off: Used to signal the end of the letter and the writer of the letter
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
In your child's homework book, prompt them to write a letter to someone of their choice which they are grateful to have in their lives. This letter should highlight reasons why they feel grateful for this person.
