CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week students are learning to infer the character’s feelings from a text.

VOCABULARY

Feelings can be inferred by students based on the illustration and or clues from within the text.

Characters may experience multiple consequences or outcomes based on what was inferred by the student prior to reading on.

Theme of the text can and does change based on how the characters are acting upon their feelings. This can be both positive and negative.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Students to read the first half of their text. They can create a wall chart of the feelings that they have inferred/found in their text using clues and illustrations. They can then assign an emoji to the feeling.   Students can continue reading until the end of the text ticking off correct inferences as they go.
