School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

This year POPS has been involved with the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support initiative, a significant step in creating a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment. This term staff and students have been collaboratively developing a behavior matrix for consistent use throughout the school to establish a shared language and understanding of expectations across settings. The matrix aligns to the school values - Respect, Excellence, Integrity and Kindness.

This week students have been set the challenge to show RESPECT to adults and each other by speaking kindly. Some thoughts that have come from classes around the school:

People who are respectful:

  • Treat others the way they would want to be treated.
  • Are polite and courteous.
  • Treat everyone well, even though they may look, act, or believe differently.
  • Solve disagreements by peaceful means.
  • Listen to what other people have to say.
  • Never insult people, or make fun of them, or call them names.
  • Never bully or pick on others.
  • Never judge people before they get to know them.
  • Treat others nicely.
  • Treat surroundings and objects nicely and take care of them.
  • Follow rules and understand they are there for a purpose.

People who show respect realise:

  • That everyone has an opinion that is worth listening to.
  • That we are all different.
  • That we should respect everyone.
  • We should respect ourselves.
  • Rules and expectations are there so everyone is treated equally.
