Orienteering Success at the Queensland Schools Orienteering Championships

Congratulations to Grace and Benjamin on their outstanding performances at the Queensland Schools Orienteering Championships (QSOC).

Competing in the Senior Girls division, Grace produced an exceptional set of results, finishing 3rd in the Hagaby (Mass Start Race), 2nd in the Sprint, and 2nd in the Long Distance events.

Benjamin also performed exceptionally well in the Junior Boys division, claiming 3rd place in both the Hagaby and Sprint events, with another strong performance in the Long Distance.

Both Grace and Benjamin were thrilled with their performances across the weekend and have been rewarded for their efforts with selection in the Queensland Orienteering Team. They will now represent Queensland at the Australian Orienteering Championships in Canberra in September.

Congratulations, Grace and Benjamin! We wish you both the very best as you prepare for the national championships.

Treefrogs Shine at the Darling Downs Senior Schools Volleyball Cup

On 30 July, our Treefrogs travelled to Toowoomba to compete in the Darling Downs Senior Schools Volleyball Cup, taking on schools from across the region in a competition aimed at Year 11 and 12 students.

Our boys' team was exceptional throughout the day, displaying great energy, teamwork and determination. They went undefeated in their pool, winning every match to progress to the semi-finals. Although they narrowly missed out on a place in the gold medal match, the boys showed incredible resilience, bouncing back to dominate the bronze medal playoff and finish the competition with a well-deserved bronze medal.

Our girls' team demonstrated incredible resilience. After losing their opening match, their impressive points ratio saw them finish on top of their pool. From there, they went from strength to strength, steamrolling their opposition with some outstanding volleyball to claim the gold medal!

This achievement was even more impressive given that several Year 9 and Year 10 students stepped up to compete against students in a Year 11 and 12 competition. Beyond the medals, it was a fantastic day of quality volleyball, sportsmanship and building connections with students and schools from across the Darling Downs.

Congratulations also to our individual award winners. Noah was selected as the boys' MVP, while Teia-Rose was named the girls' MVP. Teia-Rose was also presented with a shirt recognising her as the MVP of the gold medal-winning team.

Congratulations to all of our Treefrogs who competed. We are incredibly proud of the way you represented Toogoolawah State High School!
