Committed to Achievement, Respectful, Responsible (C.A.R.R) Awards
In Week 3 this term, we proudly hosted our second C.A.R.R Awards Ceremony for the year which acknowledge and celebrate students’ excellent effort and behaviour throughout the previous Semester. There is a large body of research that shows a strong correlation between high levels of sustained effort and positive behaviour and improved academic performance.
During the Ceremony, we presented certificates to 137 students who had achieved only A’s and/or B’s for Effort and Behaviour in Semester 1 this year which is an outstanding achievement. This represents around 46% of our student population at the school, and it was wonderful to have many parents and caregivers join us for the ceremony. Congratulations to all students who qualified for the C.A.R.R. Award this Semester.
Student Leadership at TSHS
Following recent consultation and feedback with staff, the TSHS P&C and students through the Student Representative Council, the school will be transitioning to a new student leadership structure from the beginning of 2027 with school captains (both junior and senior) appointed on a model of best fit, irrespective of gender. Traditionally, the school has maintained a model of one male and one female representative for both senior and junior captains, however based on strong support for change, the new model enables the potential for two male, two female or a male/female combination moving forward.
2026 Awards Night – Date Claimer
The 2026 TSHS Awards Night will be held on the evening of Monday 16 November (week 7, Term 4). This is the beginning of the Year 12s final week of school and it promises to be a wonderful celebration of students’ achievement throughout the year. Please note this important date in your calendars. Further information around the 2026 Awards Night will be communicated with our community in Term 4.
2026 School Opinion Survey
In recent weeks, parents and caregivers will have received an invitation through the Department of Education to participate in the 2026 School Opinion Survey (SOS) which closes on 21 August. The email invitation uses the subject line: School Opinion Survey for parents/caregivers, 2026. If this has not arrived into your inbox, please check junk email folders if it cannot be easily located. We highly value your feedback through the annual SOS.
TSHS Newsletter
As previously communicated to community, in Semester 1 this year, we have trialled a newsletter publication schedule of Weeks 5 and 10 in both Terms 1 and 2. Following a review of the trial schedule, we will be continuing with the Week 5 and 10 edition each school term moving forward.
Energy Drinks
Please reinforce the important message with your child / children that energy drinks are banned at TSHS and are not to be brought into the school at any time. The school values your support in this regard.
Kind regards,
Phil Reid
