Principal Report

Last week, we proudly celebrated Education Support Staff Day on Wednesday. Our Education Support staff play an essential role in the success and wellbeing of our students each and every day. Their care, dedication, flexibility and professionalism make a significant difference in classrooms, intervention programs and across the school. We thank them for the incredible work they do to support our students and staff.
We also enjoyed a very special Grandparents and Special Friends Morning Tea. It was fantastic to welcome so many family members into our school to spend time in classrooms and experience learning alongside our students. The joy and pride on students’ faces highlighted the importance of strong family and community connections within our school.
Our first School Readiness Session on Monday 18 May was a huge success, with many new families attending and engaging in the program. It was wonderful to see future students confidently exploring the learning environment while families connected with staff and our school community.
We look forward to welcoming families back for Session 2 on Tuesday 9 June at 9:30am.
Upcoming Readiness Sessions
Tuesday June 9th - Readiness session #2 - Numeracy & STEM
This week, we were pleased to welcome staff and students from Balwyn High School who visited to showcase their outstanding music program. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the performance and learning more about the opportunities available in secondary school music education.
Strengthening our partnership with Balwyn High School continues to be an important priority, particularly in supporting students as they transition from Year 6 to Year 7. I will also be meeting with the Middle School Director and Assistant Principal to further discuss ways we can continue to strengthen transition support, student wellbeing and connectedness during this important stage of schooling.
On Monday, we were delighted to welcome children from Boroondara Park Preschool who joined our Foundation students for a Phonics Plus lesson. The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for preschool children to experience classroom learning, build confidence and begin forming connections with our school community ahead of their transition to primary school.
Our Foundation students did a fantastic job demonstrating their learning and proudly welcoming our visitors.
Staff professional learning this week focused on Visible Wellbeing, supporting our continued commitment to creating positive, inclusive and thriving learning environments. Visible Wellbeing draws on evidence-based practices from positive psychology and neuroscience to help schools intentionally build student wellbeing, engagement and learning success.
Staff explored strategies that strengthen relationships, build emotional regulation, foster resilience and support students to feel safe, connected and ready to learn. This work aligns strongly with our school values and our ongoing focus on supporting the whole child academically, socially and emotionally.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership throughout another busy and rewarding fortnight at Boroondara Park Primary School.
Kind regards,
Anthony Rowe
Principal
