Mrs Holley

Welcome to Term 4!

Can you believe it is Term 4 already? Where has the year gone? Welcome to the last term in the library for 2023! I hope the holidays treated you kindly and that you were able to enjoy some relaxing, reading time enjoying one or more of the amazing books that are available to us at the moment.

Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) 2023

A special congratulations to Year 6 student Sienna Ramirez who has completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge every year since Kindergarten (that’s 7 years in a row) – way to go Sienna!

Library Borrowing

We are very fortunate here at St Joseph’s to have some absolutely awesome books in our school library collection. The generosity of the Armidale Catholic Schools Office, together with the support shown by our school community for Book Club has provided our students access to new graphic novels, fiction, junior fiction and non-fiction books. I strongly encourage all students to take advantage of these books by bringing a library bag to school on their library day and taking one or more books home to read. Library book borrowing continues to occur every Thursday and Friday for all students. Please remember to bring along a library bag on your borrowing day so that borrowed books are protected during their travels between home and school. Library bags can be any bag that will protect the books - a plastic bag will suffice!  No bag = no borrow, sorry!

Overdue Books

Wow, I have been overwhelmed by the amazing response to the overdue notices that went home last week! A humongous “thank you” to those students (and their parents and carers) who took the time to locate and return their overdue books. I know that some families are still in the process of locating their overdue books, which is fine, just send them into school when you find them. However, if the book remains lost or is damaged and needs replacing the school will need to be compensated, I will be sending further overdue notices home in Week 5. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me via email mholley@arm.catholic.edu.au

Book Club

The first Book Club brochure for Term 4 was sent home last week and orders need to be submitted by Wednesday 25th October. This is a great opportunity to get in early for Christmas! If you would like to make a special Christmas order please indicate this clearly on your order form so that we are able to keep the books at school when they arrive, you will then be contacted to arrange a convenient time for collection.

Lunch Time in the Library

Did you know that the library is open every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during the second break? Do you like to draw, colour pictures, solve a jigsaw, play a board game, read a book? Then come in and see what’s happening in the library. It would be great to see you there!
