Wellbeing & Engagement

Today is a great day to be you!

Welcome back!

I sincerely hope all of our Rangeview families had a great two weeks of school holidays and that the students are all well rested, refreshed and ready for a big term of school to wrap up the 2023 year.

Congratulations Jurie!

Jurie from 5/6C has recently competed in the Asian Grand Prix Sydney Regional. This is an international ballet competition and was held in Sydney.

A large number of children from across Australia and New Zealand took part in this competition - and Jurie received the gold medal in the Performance B section (11-12yr). Thanks to her performance, Jurie has been invited to Hong Kong at the end of this year to represent Australia. Jurie received the gold medal in the Performance A section (9-10yr) last year, making this her second consecutive gold medal at this competition.

Jurie then took part in Section C (11-12yr) at the Ballet Teachers Workshop (BTW). This is considered one of the most prestigious classical ballet competitions in Australia. Participants were involved in an open ballet class followed by elimination classes and then a finals event at the Darebin Arts Centre. The Section C competition started with 144 children, with 20 making their way through to the final. Jurie was one of them and her classical ballet solo received 1st place in the final.

This is one of the most significant achievements in Jurie’s ballet life so far. Thank you to Jurie's mother for providing us with this information and photos - and congratulations Jurie from everyone at RPS!

onPsych Program

onPsych is Australia’s largest provider of Medicare funded school based psychology services using registered Clinical Psychologists, psychologists and accredited Mental Health Social Workers, as well as professional counsellors.

onPsych practitioners support children with a range of disorders such as anxiety, depression, eating, grief, behavioural and self harm. Working in schools enables the onPsych team to use a collaborative approach with students, teachers and families - essential for optimal outcomes.

onPsych aims to assist young people, their families and teachers to:

  • Become more self-confident and feel in control of their world.
  • Shift from feeling overwhelmed, stressed and vulnerable.
  • Make more useful decisions to support their life choices within their peer and community networks.
  • Take more positive initiatives.
  • Become more personally resourceful.

Progress is generally reflected in:

  • Improved social skills and clearer communication.
  • Enhanced realistic thinking
  • Healthier coping mechanisms.
  • Stronger positive attitudes and self-assurance.
  • Improved social interactions, school performance and less truancy.
  • Reduced visits to Medical Practitioners for mental health issues.

Rangeview have been given an opportunity to partner with onPsych and provide students at need with some additional mental health supports. In order to access the onPsych program, a student must have a current Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), which can be provided by a GP. onPsych services are then provided at the school at no out of pocket cost to families through Medicare bulk billing, NDIS and other funding models. Their services can also help families avoid frustratingly long waiting lists of the current climate.

If you believe your child might benefit from this program, please contact me at the school and I will be able to provide an onPsych Parent Information Pack and a referral form.

Confidentiality and privacy will be respected at all times.

Note: onPsych requires a certain number of students in order to offer their services to the school. Initial waiting times might occur whilst a client list is developed.
