Allegory: a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Read a fiction or nonfiction  text with your child and ask them to identify the significant events or main ideas within the text. Get them to identify the mood of the text and the message or meaning of the book. Get them to explain what the author’s point of view might be. Ask them if their thinking has been confirmed or changed as they read.
