Assistant Principal Report

Joanna Uzunovski & Deanne Scott

Hello Everyone,

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

As mentioned at the end of last term, our school has revised our School Values Matrix. This term we are trialing the revised Values/Expected Behaviours Matrix, in preparation for a formal launch next year. We have organized our values into three categories:

  1. Be Safe
  2. Be Respectful
  3. Be a Learner

We will be explicitly teaching the expected behaviour students are to demonstrate at school. Just as we teach reading and mathematics, we also will be teaching behaviour.

We have a new Behaviour Continuum to explain what are the expected, minor and major behaviours and the consequences related to each category.

Your child’s teacher will send home a copy of the revised documents via SeeSaw. Please take some time to have a chat with your child/ren about this. If you would like to know more about the matrix, please pop into the office and make a time to chat with me.

2023 Term 4 Challenge of the Week

The new challenge for this term is Word Web.

You need to find as many words as possible related to the word in the centre of the web. You can continue the web as much as you can.

I will have an example of Word Web for people to view, just outside of the office, to help explain how to do it.

You must collaborate with at least one other person (a friend, parent, classmate, etc) and no more than 3 other people. If you do not collaborate, you will not receive a Caught You Doing Right card for Collaboration.

Hard copies for students are available at the office.

Hello and welcome to Term 4.

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Spira Antonopoulos, and I am replacing Joanna Uzunovski who is currently on maternity leave for the remainder of the year and across 2024.

A little bit about myself. I have been teaching for 28 years and spent most of my teaching career at Sydenham Hillside Primary School. Over these years I taught various year levels and most recently I was the school’s Literacy Leader.

I’m also married and have two teenage daughters along with a gorgeous toy Cavoodle named Lulu. I spend the recent 2-week school holidays in Bali on a wonderful relaxing family holiday celebrating a belated milestone birthday.

I'm really excited about taking on this new chapter in my career as Acting Assistant Principal. I am eager to embark on the new learnings and being a part of the DPW family. I look forward to working closely with you all and getting to know all the wonderful students, staff and parents of the school community.

My door is always open, so please pop in and say hi!
