Nessie Araya (Year 12 student)

 

 

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I live in a family of 6 [3 brothers and both my parents], however, we have a ‘community house’ meaning there is always family and laughter happening. The main way I spend my time when I do have time is by cooking various food and cuisines and having movie nights with my family.

 

What did you like most about being a student at Marian College?

The thing I like most about being a student at Marian College is the community and friendships that are created. Being familiar with the people in your learning community where we support each other. 

 

Who inspired you?

At school, my friends are my inspiration, as they continue to motivate me to want the best for me Outside of school, my father is my inspiration, as he raised himself and fought to live the life he lives today [he went through many struggles to come to Australia and make a living]

 

What are the biggest challenges facing teenage girls today?

Gossip and miscommunication [arguments and fights as a result] 

 

What advice would you give to students at Marian College?

Work hard but most importantly take care of your health and enjoy your life because you’ll only have this opportunity in [don't regret anything] 

 

Favourite food and drink. 

Food: I love Asian cuisine but if not I love some pasta and burrata Drink: LLB or a Coke 

 

Favourite holiday destination. 

Greece or the Maldives

 

Favourite TV show, movie and book. 

TV show: raising Dion Movie: another Cinderella story Book: Song of the Nightingale [book from my aunt about the life of my parent's generations and the trouble of living during that time]

 

What are your dreams for the future? 

To become a paediatrician but also to be able to travel the world and see other cultures and religions
