Weeks 1 & 2: Willy Kids are Kind
Kindness is the action of doing something for someone else without expecting anything in return. Displaying empathy and understanding for others and what they may be experiencing means that we take the time to put ourselves in their shoes. Showing kindness and compassion towards our classmates and those in our world, creates an environment in which everyone feels supported.
Being kind has many benefits; doing an act of kindness makes us feel good and warm inside, whilst receiving kindness makes us feel cared for and accepted.
There are many ways that we can show kindness at school, home and in the community.
As Willy Kids, we go out of our way to be caring and considerate towards others.
Let’s see what acts of kindness we can do to brighten someone’s day!
Weeks 3 & 4: Willy Kids are Grateful
Gratitude means being thankful for things, big or small. It means that we appreciate and show that we are happy for the things we have, like family, friends, education and experiences, not just material things like toys and gadgets. When we show that we are grateful, we can have a positive impact on people around us, as well as ourselves, helping us to achieve personal happiness and satisfaction.
We know that it isn’t always easy to show gratitude, especially if we are going through a tough time. But the more you practise gratitude, the easier it gets! Being grateful actually increases a chemical in your brain called dopamine, which tells your brain to keep doing what you just did; being grateful! So, the more you are grateful for, the more you will find to be grateful for!
