Year 9 Walkathon Fundraiser - Last chance to donate!!
Scarlett Rickard, Year 9
To prepare for the expeditions taking place during early Term 4, Year 9s have been participating in practice walks and information sessions. On Friday September 20, we will walk from School to Federation Square for our Walkathon.
The practice walks have tested us both mentally and physically, often pushing us beyond our comfort zones with longer distances. These experiences are helping to prepare us for the challenging hikes ahead at Cape York and Southwest Victoria.
The 17km Walk-a-thon will further prepare us for the longer treks, while also raising funds to support our community service initiatives. The money raised will benefit Indigenous communities through Red Earth and the Murrup Foundation. Donations are now open, and we're getting closer to our goal every day — so don’t forget to donate here!
Connor's Run - 15 September
Jacqui Goldenberg, Community Service Program Director
In preparation for Connor’s Run on 15 September, our Year 10 cohort had the opportunity to hear from Rebecca Goldstein, who shared the story of her son Gideon, who tragically passed away from a brain tumour in 2019. She spoke about how each year, her family and friends come together for Connor’s Run to honour Gideon’s memory and celebrate his life.
Connor's Run, Australia's largest event dedicated to paediatric brain cancer, raises funds for the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation (RCDF).
Over the years, 'Team Gideon' has raised enough money to set up a scholarship in his name. We look forward to running alongside the members of the RCD Foundation community, as we live out our motto 'Not for our own but others’ good'.
Fundraising for Colours Day - 18 September
Kilvington’s Teams Colours Day is just around the corner, and our Senior School is coming together to raise funds for our community partner, Flying Fox, through an exciting Colour Run!
Flying Fox is a terrific not-for-profit organisation that tackles the social isolation of young people with or without a disability, helping develop their independence, further their engagement in the community, and thrive as equal members of society.

Humans of Kilvington
It’s time to get to know another one of our fantastic faculty members, School Psychologist Evangeline Wai!
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Or rather, who? I wanted to be Mary Poppins! I dreamed of having my own umbrella, flying around and telling off adults when they were rude.
You can travel to any destination in the world, where would you go?
The Netherlands or Hawaii!
Funniest/most memorable moment at Kilvington.
I often feel bad for interrupting our amazing Main Reception administrators, Kathy and Katrina, with my quirky questions. I’ve been doing curtsies before speaking to show them my appreciation for their attention!
Share something about yourself that no-one would ever guess.
I’m afraid of heights and have never been on a roller coaster.
If you could swap your job with anyone else at Kilvington, who would you swap with?
The lovely ladies of the canteen. I think they deserve a break for all they do for students during recess and lunch. Also, being in the canteen means I get first dibs on sushi!
Your favourite thing about working at Kilvington?
Everyone’s really friendly and incredibly good at what they do.
