Belonging within the school community
A key concept within the Early Years Learning Framework is ‘Belonging’ — understanding where and with whom you belong. This is considered an essential element in delivering an effective early childhood curriculum.
'In early childhood, and throughout life, trusting relationships and affirming experiences are crucial to a sense of belonging. Belonging is central to being and becoming in that it shapes who children are and who they can become.'
At the ELC, we have been busy engaging in a range of activities to illustrate our ‘Belonging’ within the school community. Some of these experiences include:
- Participation in Book Week and its parade
- The annual Art Exhibition
- More buddy time with the Year 5s
- Science Week with Kilvington’s Science Leaders and teaching team
- Father's and Special Friend’s Morning
- Specialist classes in Library, Music and French Immersion
The ELC is most fortunate to have a deep sense of belonging within our wonderful Kilvington school community.
ELC Fathers and Special Friends Day
A big thanks to all our ELC dads for joining us for our Fathers and Special Friends visits this week. With arts and crafts, reading sessions, playtime and mini concerts galore, it was heartwarming to see all the big smiles from both the grown-ups and our little adventurers!
