FROM THE PRINCIPAL

"Many Wolves .... One Pack"

Term 1 - Week 3

Our System’s vision of ‘literate and numerate students with a hope filled future’ is coming to fruition every day at St Nicholas School. Our students' capacity to quickly return and re-engage in the ‘St Nicholas School Day’ is a credit to them and the structures of learning and wellbeing that we have in place.

Our schools commitment to agreed pedagogy, common & consistent language and embedded structures enable us to get on with our core business.  This is in stark contrast to the days of spending considerable weeks teaching the children the routines and expectations of their new grade.

The ability to hit the ground running and engage in our core business means I have had the opportunity for the last two weeks to support Year 5 with their Guided Reading. Before Kindergarten even commenced their school journey, our Year 5 students were:

  • grouped across the grade according to their needs
  • presented with a 5 week targeted learning sprint
  • engaging with rich literature and reading to a trained staff member 4 days a week

I look forward to working with Year 5 for the remainder of the term before moving onto to join the Kindergarten Team in Terms 2, 3 and 4.

A reminder of the wonderful opportunities to engage in your child’s learning and our school community over the next seven days.
