Introduction to the Junior School

Meet our Junior Sub School

My name is Salome Broch and I am Head of Junior School. I work with our fantastic Year Level Program Leaders (YLPLs) to support our Year 7 and 8 students, and organise incursions and events like camp. In my spare time, I love to go hiking with my dog Atlas or cook.

Tess Legge and Josh Melican are our Year 7 YLPLs, they are the first point of contact for any concerns or questions related to Year 7 students. In their spare time, Tess likes to go out and mountain bike or read a book. Josh’s passion is footy and when he is not out on the field, he likes to have some quiet time reading a book.

Kurt Strachan and Will Medcalf are our Year 8 YLPLs, they are the first point of contact for any concerns or questions related to year 8 students. On the weekends, Will loves to go out cycling or play some cricket. Kurt spends as much of his winters snowboarding but also enjoys watching movies or going for a run.

Term 1 Connect Overview:

For the first few weeks of term 1, the Year 7 Connect program focuses on creating connections with peers and the school. After this, students will have workshops that focus on racism and what we can do to tackle it. Towards the end of the term, student will have activities to celebrate Harmony Day.

As we have had a shuffle in the Year 8 classes this year, the Connect program for Year 8 students will initially focus on getting to know your class and creating a positive learning environment. Students will have an incursion from Toolbox to support their emotional regulation and discover strategies to help them navigate difficult emotions. To finish the term, Year 8 students will have some lessons that are focused on career exploration and getting students to think about their strengths.
