WPS Community Children’s Garden

Veggie Gardens at Woodend Primary

Woodend Primary School is extremely fortunate to have two large vegetable gardens: a kitchen garden at Carlsruhe and the Woodend Community Children’s Garden. These gardens are used to teach environmental and plant science, heathy eating, sustainable gardening and many other topics.

Each Monday lunchtime, all students at the Woodend campus are welcome to come along to Garden Club at the Woodend Community Children’s Garden for a lunch time of fun, exercise, teamwork and discovery. Please remind and encourage your children to when sending them off to school on Mondays. You’ll know if they have attended as they’ll usually bring home a bag of garden produce to share (unless they eat it all on the way home 😊)

Such programs cannot run without the help of volunteer parents. There are a myriad of mental and physical benefits to both children and adults who spend time in veggie gardens. If you would like to help out in either of the School’s veggie gardens, please contact volunteer parent Nicole for the Woodend garden (details below) or your Grade 4 student’s teacher for the Carlsruhe garden.
