Keelonith Primary School Joins The Resilience Project
This year, Keelonith Primary School is excited to introduce The Resilience Project (TRP), a proven program dedicated to fostering positive mental health and building resilience in young people. TRP is focused on teaching strategies to prevent mental illness and empower students to cope with life’s challenges. We are proud to be implementing TRP’s evidence-based, whole-school wellbeing approach to support our students, staff, and the wider community.
Building Resilience for Life
At KPS, we understand that mental health is just as important as physical health, and we are committed to nurturing the emotional and psychological wellbeing of all our students. TRP is designed to support students in strengthening their capacity to deal with adversity and thrive in challenging situations. Through this program, students will engage in weekly lessons focusing on key principles that are vital for mental and emotional wellbeing: Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness, and Emotional Literacy.
- Gratitude: Teaching students to focus on the positive aspects of their lives, helping them to appreciate and reflect on what they have.
- Empathy: Encouraging understanding and kindness towards others, strengthening relationships, and building a supportive community.
- Mindfulness: Helping students to become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and surroundings in the present moment.
- Emotional Literacy: Supporting students to identify, understand, and express their emotions in healthy and constructive ways.
Whole-School Approach
The Resilience Project goes beyond the classroom, integrating wellbeing practices into every part of school life. Teachers and staff will also be involved in strengthening their own mental health practices, ensuring a supportive environment for both students and educators. By embedding these principles throughout the school, we aim to create a positive, supportive atmosphere that extends to our wider school community.
Parent/Carer Involvement
The Resilience Project encourages regular parent and carer involvement to ensure the wellbeing strategies extend beyond the school day. Parents will have opportunities to engage with the program, participate in activities, and support their child’s emotional growth at home. By working together, we can create a consistent approach to building resilience in our students.
A Shared Commitment to Wellbeing
The Resilience Project is not just a program; it’s a commitment to building a culture of positive mental health that will last a lifetime. We are excited to see the impact it will have on our students’ lives and look forward to working together as a school community to promote resilience, kindness, and emotional wellbeing for all.
If you have any questions or would like more information on how you can get involved in the TRP program, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
Here’s to a year of growth, learning, and resilience!
