Principal Message
Hello to all members of the Kings Park campus community. We trust you’ve all been healthy and happy as we absorb the fact that one quarter of the 2025 school year is almost over. We’d like to think that with such a significant milestone coming up (the end of term), that much has happened…and we’d be right.
Our Year 7-8 Team
As promised in our last report when we included profiles of our Year 9-10 Leaders, here are those of our Year 7-8 team:
Heath Simpson – Campus Leader
As a PE and Health teacher, I enjoy building culture and cohesion among our cohorts. A team work approach helps me work at Copperfield and I try to teach this to all the students I work with. In my personal life I still love playing football and have been busy with preseason of late.
Benjamin Kuypers – D Team Leader
Coming from a Maths and Wellbeing background this is my second year at Copperfield. I enjoy gaming when I am not at school and this helps me connect with students in class. As a teacher and Team Leader I can help students have the best experience at school and this is the reason I enjoy my job.
Tara Causer L-Team Leader
I am Tara Causer the L-Team leader for 2025. Before becoming a teacher, I studied and worked in the field of Accounting with a business in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne. I have been working as a teacher for 12 years in a wide range of schools including primary, secondary and special schools in the North and Western Suburbs. I have been at Copperfield College since 2018 and began at the Sydenham Campus and moved to the Kings Park Campus in 2022. My teaching methods are Mathematics, Health, Business Management and Accounting.
Breakfast Club up and running
This year, Kerrie Young, one of our Integration Aides has kindly accepted the role of running Breakfast Club here at the Kings Park campus. Kerrie is working with Mary Scott, our Wellbeing Officer and learning from the master before Mary leaves us at the end of Term 1. Breakfast Club is open to all students every morning from 8:00 until 8:45 and serves a range of delicious treats including muffins, toasties and pancakes & fruit salad.
School Photos February 21
Although the school photo routine is part and parcel of every school’s calendar, it still requires much organisation both prior to the day and especially on the day. In our case, due to the Capital Works program, we were restricted to using a smaller classroom than the Old Drama Space. A big thanks to Heath Simpson and James Inabinet, our two Campus Leaders for keeping calm and in tune with all the chaos of bringing 25 different groups of students in and out of the room while keeping to the their timetable.
FareShare Excursion
On Tuesday the 18th of March, our Year 10 Advance students from Kings Park volunteered their time at FareShare in Abbotsford. FareShare is an organisation that provides meals to people in need across the state of Victoria. The Year 10s and their teachers were able to use strong communication and teamwork skills to assist in the preparation of ingredients and the packaging of meals in readiness for distribution. From this experience, our students gained an immense appreciation for the work of volunteers within a community - donating their time and energy for the benefit of others.
On the day, the class managed to:
Tours of our campus
We are also at a time of the year when parents of our ‘feeder’ Primary Schools are finalising their choices for the preferred Secondary School for their children. Mr. Petherick and Mr. Carinci have walked a few parents around the campus discussing with them and showing them all that is unique and magnetic about the Kings Park campus. Hopefully we will see them at our Discovery Night on Thursday March 27.
Visiting our feeder Primary Schools
Mr. Carinci and Mr. Petherick have visited (and will continue to visit) Primary Schools whose students feed into the Kings Park campus of Copperfield College. The purpose is to introduce ourselves, build a strong relationship with those schools and their leadership teams and where applicable, speak at school assemblies. On Monday March 24, we will be attending and presenting at an assembly at Albanvale Primary School and on Wednesday March 26, we have been invited to meet and introduce ourselves to the leadership team at Kororoit Creek Primary School at the end of the school day.
Discovery Night-Thursday March 27
Speaking of Discovery Night, this annual event in Term 1 is the culmination of so much work with our feeder Primary Schools that involve a mixture of:
Mr. Petherick and Mr. Carinci have also ensured that Primary Schools promote our Discovery Night and Scholarship program on their various platforms.
Discovery Night itself consists of three parts; some informal time to browse displays and chat to staff, an official presentation and then an opportunity to engage in some sample lessons facilitated by our amazing staff.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN testing is in full swing for Years 7 and 9 students as I write this report. For the first time, we are using student laptops to administer the NAPLAN testing. Our IT team along with Campus and Team Leaders have worked effectively and collaboratively to ensure students have completed familiarisation tests prior to undertaking the actual test from May 12. A big thanks to Mr. Simpson and Mr. Inabinet for the day to day management and supervision of this annual event
Pictured are our students in the library concentrating on the 65 minutes Reading Test.
Elevate, Educate for Year 8 students
On Wednesday 28th March during CONNECT, the Year 8 classes at Kings Park took part in an Elevate Educate session focusing on Time Management. During the session they learnt about skills for setting study time, completing homework, revision and preparing for assessments and exams.
Year 7 Scholarship recipients 2025
We’ve waited for the school year to settle down and now is a great opportunity to officially recognise our successful Year 7 Scholarship recipients for 2025. Having met them all, the selection panel certainly made some inspired decisions as to who is given this unique opportunity. Our Year 7 Scholarship recipients are:

After having spoken to our 5 superstars, they revealed the following about future aspirations:

Palace would like to work for the Community because he enjoys helping people
Annie would like to become an online influencer who spreads positivity

Good luck with all your aspirations!.
Congratulations to you all and make the most of this amazing opportunity afforded to you by Copperfield College. Well Done!
Stevensville Primary School Transition activities
On Monday March 17, Grade 6 students from Stevensville Primary School were invited to undertake activities at the Kings Park campus as a precursor to a likely enrolment here as the Year 7 class of 2026. Students were put through their paces with a series of physical activities in the gymnasium facilitated by Ms. Byrne and student helpers. In the other session, the Stevensville students engaged in a Robotics class programming a specified route for the robotic vehicles to follow. The Robotics session was facilitated by Ms.Vo and Mr. Breen. Having spoken to the two staff from Stevensville who attended, students enjoyed the experience immensely.
I think we’ve just about covered everything. To all the members of the Kings Park Campus community and the wider Copperfield College community, we hope you have an enjoyable end of term and a safe, healthy and happy Term 1 break. Bye for now.
Mr. Renato Carinci and Mr. Lance Petherick
