House Swimming
Congratulations to all students who competed at the ASPS House Swimming Carnival on Tuesday 11 February. The weather was excellent and it matched the competitors efforts on the day.
It was pleasing to see great representation from our grade 3 and 4 students who made up the large majority of the competitors.
I was pleased to hear the house chants echo around the swim centre as the students cheered and supported one another. For those who didn't make the district team, don't be too disappointed as your efforts on the day made everyone proud and you helped accumulate house points with your placings.
Kooyong District Swimming
Congratulations to all students who represented Auburn South at this year’s District Swimming Carnival at Boroondara Sports Centre.
Auburn South was made proud once again with so many terrific achievements by our students. It was great to see both the student and parent support on the day for our competitors.
Some notable achievements on the day include Imogen C finishing 3rd in the 10 girls freestyle, Suyash D and Tom G finishing 3rd and 4th in the 10 boys freestyle and Oliver A finishing 3rd in the 12 boy freestyle.
Some notable achievements in the breaststroke included Wenxhi C and Felix S both finishing 3rd in their respective age groups.
A huge congratulations to the following students who have qualified for the Division Swimming Carnival with top two finishes in individual events:
- Lewie L 1st place in freestyle and backstroke
- Tom G 2nd place in backstroke
- Imogen C 2nd place breaststroke
- Fiona R 2nd place breaststroke and butterfly
- Suyash D 2nd place butterfly
In the 4 x 50m freestyle relay Auburn South performed solidly with the following age groups qualifying for the Division Carnival.
Our 11 year old girls freestyle relay team finished 2nd consisting of Indiana Z, Estelle F, Aurelia C and Fiona R.
The 10 boys freestyle relay team represented by Suyash D, Tom G, Oliver S and Benji V finished in 1st place with a great performance.
Our 12 boys relay team also managed a 1st place finish with Lewie L, Oliver A, Archer G and Lachie T producing a stella effort.
The final event of the day was the mixed medley relay and Auburn South again claimed first place with Lewie swimming the backstroke, Fiona swimming the butterfly, Aurelia swimming breaststroke and Oliver finishing off in freestyle.
Thank you to Michelle Lindeman for assisting Mike McDiarmid with organising the students on to the bus and marshalling.
