Year 7 & 8

 Mr Thomas Dempers

A fantastic start, Class of 2030!

The energy and enthusiasm of our Year 7 students has been infectious. In just three weeks, they have embraced countless new experiences, formed burgeoning friendships and immersed themselves in school life with enthusiasm and pride.

A highlight of their transition was the Year 7 Camp this week in which students spent three days developing teamwork skills and stepping outside their comfort zone. This experience was invaluable in fostering a strong sense of community within the cohort. Thank you to Miss Sadie Yoxall for organising such a successful and smooth camp, and to all the staff of St George’s who attended. The Year 7s have also participated in many House activities and today enjoyed a Picnic in the Park to strengthen the bonds from camp!

Meanwhile, our Year 8 students have had a smooth and confident start to the year. Now settled into their learning routines, they have returned with a sense of maturity and enthusiasm, setting a great example for our younger students. It has been wonderful to see them reconnect with familiar faces, welcome new students into the cohort and embrace the challenges and opportunities of the year ahead.

I encourage our Year 8s to focus on organisation and proactive learning habits, such as checking Daily Notices, keeping up with Direqt Messages, and making full use of their School Diary to track assessments. These skills will be key to their success this year.

As the new Head of Years 7 and 8, I am thrilled to be working with such a fantastic group of students and families. I look forward to supporting them throughout the year and ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or feedback. I look forward to partnering with you for a positive and productive 2025.
