The House Cup

Gandhi House

A big welcome to everyone in Gandhi House for the 2025 school year. Term 1 is a very busy term for the House with a number of different events and activities. This week, we were lucky enough to have some of our Year 12 leaders attend the Year 7 Camp. It was excellent to see the connection and House Spirit shine through the series of House games run by the Year 12s. It was also the start of our bid the the 2025 House Cup with plenty of House Tokens awarded to Year 7 Gandhi Students. Year 7 Camp was a great success, and the students left with many positive new connections and memories to take away from the experience.

Coming up, we have House Week running during Week 4. We are excited to see lots of sign-ups for the events running at lunchtimes throughout the week. The three activities are a volleyball tournament, paper plane competition and chess. Students can sign up via the Google Form sent via Direqt message. Let’s start the year with some great participation and House Spirit. Go Gandhi!

Lincoln House

It was fantastic spending time with the Year 7 students on camp this week and seeing the Lincoln students compete against other Houses. I was blown away by the fierce House Spirit that is already being shown by the Year 7s and encourage them to look out for opportunities to support the House in future events- the first being House Week that will take place during lunch time next week. The Lincoln House Token Jar on ground floor is already looking  full – well done Lincolnites.

The sign-up form has been sent to all students via DIREQT message, and I encourage as many Lincoln students as possible to join in and participate. This term the activities are: volleyball, furthest paper plane flight and a blitz chess competition.

In following the 2025 school theme of ‘Finding your Brave’, my challenge to all Lincoln students is for each student to compete in at least one House activity every term, to give it a go and to try something new.

Additionally, I would like to thank all Lincoln students who have signed up for the Interhouse Performing Arts Festival which will be held early next term. We will be holding trials early next week for the dance team and will be reaching out shortly regarding when we will start practice sessions.

Lincoln took first place in the last competition, Battle of the Bands, in 2024, and I look forward to seeing Lincoln continuing our success into this year’s House Cup. So sign-up, get involved and make sure those tokens are being dropped into that yellow jar!

Mandela House

We are thrilled to have new and returning students as part of our vibrant and supportive Mandela House community. Mandela House has a proud tradition of teamwork, participation, and positive House spirit, and we cannot wait to see all students get involved and make the most of every opportunity this year.

This term is packed with exciting events, with the highlight being the highly anticipated Interhouse Swimming Carnival and the legendary SyncSwim Challenge. Our Mandela House students have been working tirelessly to perfect their SyncSwim routine, aiming to retain our championship title from last year with a new scoring sheet in place for 2025 SyncSwim.

In addition, it has been fantastic getting to know our new Year 7 students through the Year 7 camp and the Picnic in the Park. These activities have been a great way for students to form new friendships, build confidence, and settle into life at our amazing school. Seeing our youngest Mandela House members embrace these experiences with enthusiasm and positivity has been truly inspiring.

We also want to acknowledge the fantastic leadership of our House Captain, Zuri, and House Prefect, Amelie. They have been doing an incredible job in motivating and guiding our students, ensuring that everyone feels included and supported. Their enthusiasm and dedication to Mandela House is truly commendable, and we appreciate all their hard work so far this year. I am confident that 2025 will be a brilliant year for all within Mandela House.

As always, the Mandela House team is here to support our students throughout the year, encouraging them to take on new challenges, work hard, and enjoy their school journey. We look forward to an amazing year ahead, filled with success, school spirit, and plenty of fun.

Go Mandela House!  Wear your green with pride and let’s make 2025 another unforgettable year.
