Year 7 Summit Camp: Building Confidence, Friendships, and Lifelong Memories

The excitement was palpable as our Year 7 students embarked on their first major adventure of the school year: the much-anticipated Summit Camp. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Gippsland region in Trafalgar, this three-day experience was designed to foster resilience, teamwork, and personal growth while helping students forge strong friendships early in their secondary school journey and creating a sense of belonging.

From high ropes and giant swings to team-building challenges and leadership activities, every moment at camp offered an opportunity for students to push beyond their comfort zones and stretch. A highlight for many was the Leap of Faith or Giant Swing—a daring activity where students climbed to great heights and took a courageous jump or swing, cheered on by their peers.

Evenings were just as memorable, with trivia, games, and plenty of laughter. These moments allowed students to bond with peers and teachers in a relaxed, supportive environment.

The camp also placed a strong emphasis on our College values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.  It was inspiring to see students encouraging one another, working together to solve challenges, and celebrating each other's achievements—whether it was conquering a fear of heights or simply offering a supportive hand to a friend.

A huge thank you goes out to the dedicated staff who made this experience possible and to the students who embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and positivity.

The Year 7 Summit Camp wasn’t just about adventure; it was about setting the tone for a successful year ahead filled with growth, new friendships, and unforgettable memories, all under our theme for the year of Creating a Sense of Belonging.

NAPLAN 2025: Key Information

Preparation for NAPLAN 2025 is well underway. NAPLAN is a series of assessments for all Year 7 and 9 students across Australia, designed to monitor student progress in literacy and numeracy. It is not a pass-or-fail test but provides valuable insights into student growth, curriculum effectiveness, and the quality of teaching and learning at our College.

This year, NAPLAN will take place in Term 1, from Wednesday 12th March to Monday 24th March 2025.

While participation is expected, parents and carers have the option to withdraw their child from NAPLAN testing for religious, philosophical, or educational reasons. If you are considering withdrawal, please contact the College as soon as possible to discuss the process and complete the necessary paperwork.

For more information, parents and carers can refer to the attached brochure or visit the official NAPLAN website:
