Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
As always in our College community of over 1200 students and nearly 200 staff we have been busy with lots of wonderful things happening.
For the past 2 weeks I have had the privilege of being Acting Principal for Bairnsdale Secondary College while our Principal Tony Roberts has been working offsite. Each and every day is unique at our College, as we see our students strive to be the best they can be, with our staff supporting them to achieve.
Yesterday we held our annual Swimming Carnival. The weather was a little cloudy, the pool water a little cool, but it didn't dampen the spirits of our swimmers. Students had the opportunity to dress up, compete in the pool and encourage each other in a fabulous day for our College community.
Congratulations to all our students who competed and good luck to those who will head off to compete at the next level. A big thanks to our PE department who put the carnival together along with all the staff who supported throughout the day. A very successful event!
NAPLAN is fast approaching for our Year 7 and 9 students. NAPLAN will take place in Term 1 from Wednesday 12th March to Monday 24th March, 2025.
Next week our students will participate in practice tests. This will help students understand the process, calm any nerves and ensure that everyone is ready when the 'official' tests commence.
For more information, parents and carers can refer to the attached brochure or visit the official NAPLAN website:

Our student leadership framework is up and running for 2025 with our Student Representative Council (SRC) having their first meeting this week. Our SRC is an opportunity to provide voice to our students. Students participate in discussions and work with their relevant hubs to focus on student concerns or wishes and assist in implementing and developing mini projects within our College.
Our new leaders will be introduced to our College over the coming weeks in various assemblies and have an opportunity to attend the GRIP Leadership conference in Melbourne on Wednesday 5th March. The GRIP Student Leadership Conference provides training to our student leaders to assist them in their role as school leaders.
