Grade 6

Literacy

Students will continue their core knowledge unit on Ancient Greece and Rome. In these lessons, students will be looking at the Persian Wars, the Golden Age of Athens and the Peloponnesian War. In writing, students are delving into paragraph formation and ensuring their paragraphs are developed around one central idea. In grammar and syntax, students will revise the concepts taught this term, including upgrading verbs, expanding sentences and using dialogue correctly.  ​

 

 

 

Numeracy

Over the next two weeks, students will be exploring perimeter and area concepts and the concept of time. Their focus will include:

  • Solving problems involving the area of composite shapes
  • Investigating the perimeter of rectangles with the same area
  • Calculating elapsed time to the minute
  • Planning timetables
  • Interpreting timetables

 

 

Inquiry

In the next fortnight, students will be finalising their leadership projects ready to present to their families at the celebration of learning. They have practiced note-taking and research skills to find out more about their chosen leader and the impact they have had on their communities.

It is important that students bring their drink bottles to school. 

If students are wearing a smart watch to school, please remind them to drop this off at the office in the morning before the 8.45am bell.
