Year 7 Systems Technology
Students in the Systems rotation for Technology have been learning about forces and common scenarios of where forces are encountered, and have started learning about simple machines. They have also started putting their learning into practice and are super excited about starting their build for their chosen mini-catapult designs (to launch a paper ball). It has been also great to see they are maintaining safe procedures in the workshops by wearing their enclosed leather shoes.

Year 8 Visual Communication
Year 8’s are learning about typography in Viscom this term, and have had a great start filling their books with idea generation. They have been looking at how fonts can change the mood of what is being communicated through the shape, colour, size or detail of the letter. They are working towards creating a final presentation of their name using illustrative fonts that reflect their personalities.

Year 8 Textiles
This week our Year 8’s have been learning about Traditional Indigenous Textiles practices and inspiration behind traditional artworks.
The students used their knowledge and did some research into their own cultural backgrounds to design their own piece of textile art that represents their culture. Although some of this is not finished, their work has been incredible and really shown what they are capable of. We cannot wait to see what they achieve in their next project

Year 9 Visual Communication & Design
In Year 9 VCD, students have learnt basic pencil rendering techniques. For their first task, they are applying what they have learnt to the portrait drawing. Students' chosen photos are printed out, sliced in half and they are currently rendering them on their visual diaries.

Year 11 & 12 VCE Product Design and Technology
The VCE students have been using their mini whiteboards to practice retrieving information about the factors that influence Product Design. Our Year 12 students have done an excellent job and are now moving on to exploring the scope of each factor. They’ve also been working hard to retrieve their knowledge on divergent and convergent thinking strategies. Meanwhile, the Year 11 students are marching ahead and have gained confidence with all 8 factors. Well done, everyone—keep up the great work! You’ve got this!

Year 12 VCE Media
Students have recently watched Parasite, the 2019 South Korean film in preparation for Outcome 1, Narratives and their contexts, where students will begin to discuss audience engagement, consumption and reading and analyse the relationship between the film and the contexts in which it is produced. On top of this, students folios are well underway for their major SAT for the year. It’s great to see such a diverse range of media forms students are planning to work in this year, including short film, animation, graphic novels, comic books and convergent media forms.
