Summer Sports

Summer Sports. Last Tuesday students from KTHS participated in a range of sports across the region at Swan Hill, Kerang and Cohuna.  Always with activities like this there is an expectation that  students will adhere to the school values of respect, resilience and responsibility. Great reports about our students’ actions yesterday at the sports day. The feedback was good to hear both about their behaviour and about their sportsmanship. Three teams are progressing to the next stage. The junior boys’  cricket, junior boys’ volleyball and Intermediate boys’ basketball.  Congratulations to all competitors on your performance and your behaviour.

Indigenous Performance

Last Wednesday the Indigenous Outreach Dance Project came and performed for students’ year 7 – 10. The performance was structured with dancing and having a go. Interwoven between dances and coaching sessions were stories designed to build confidence, build resilience and this notion of getting in and  having a go which they termed ‘no shame.’ It was fantastic to hear the school values reiterated by someone other than a teacher and it was really pleasing to see all students and staff letting their hair down and participating in the dances.  A big thanks to Sharon Champion who organised the day with NDCH. Sharon had this to say:

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU

We had great participation from every student at the Indigenous Outreach Project performance. Special thanks to all those  teachers and students who got involved - leading our students in the best way possible - by showing them.  Cannot thank you all enough. The dance troop were also impressed with the level of engagement and behaviour of the students. KTHS has set the bar high for participation for all the other secondary schools they are visiting!

All the best!

Wishing Amaya Crichton and Evan McNeil all the best in the upcoming Loddon Mallee Regional swimming championships in Bendigo. This is a noteworthy achievement.

Naplan

Next week students from Year 7 and Year 9 will be participating in the NAPLAN assessments. It is imperative that students  attend for these days. Future educational directions and future assistance for students stem from NAPLAN results.  Please make every effort to be at school.

Did you know?

KTHS has professionally qualified teachers and the facilities to offer the Vocational Education and Training (VET) to Year 10, 11 and 12 students in Automotive, Furnishing, Engineering, Agriculture and Cooking. As our VET subjects are integrated into the curriculum, students can choose to do more than one VET subject.
