From the  Principal

Karen Roberts

What a fantastic start to the school year!

We proudly welcomed our newest Preps to CPS, and it was truly heartwarming to see their bright smiles and excitement as they stepped into their new learning spaces. Our dedicated teachers created warm, organised, and engaging classrooms, ensuring every child felt comfortable and ready to embark on their learning journey.

A special thank you to our wonderful Parents and Friends Association (PFA) for hosting the much-loved ‘Tissues and Tears’ morning tea for our new Prep families. This event was a huge success, with so many new faces coming together to connect, share stories, and support one another. Our PFA President, Bart Wildash, gave a warm welcome to all new families, while the incredible Candice and Laura—PFA members extraordinaire—worked tirelessly to set up, host, and clean up afterward. A huge thank you also to Jenny Needham for her fantastic support in creating eye-catching flyers to promote the PFA and encourage parent involvement. Your efforts in fostering a welcoming school community are truly appreciated!

OPEN AFTERNOON

We had an incredible ‘turn out’ for our first Open Afternoon where our community were welcomed into the learning spaces to see their children in their new environments and participate in an afternoon activity. It was great to witness the student's excitement as they eagerly awaited the arrival of their family.

NEW SCHOOL VALUES

This year also marks an exciting milestone for CPS with the official launch of our new school values:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Resilient
  • Be Curious
  • Show Integrity

These values, developed in close consultation with our students, staff, and families, will guide our learning, interactions, and school culture. To celebrate, our enthusiastic Grade 2 team has been leading the way in bringing these values to life, creatively decorating our school gates and front fence with student artwork and inspiring messages. It’s been wonderful to see our community embrace these values with such energy and pride.

As Principal, I couldn’t be prouder or happier with how 2025 has begun. The enthusiasm from students, staff, and families has set a fantastic tone for the year ahead. With strong routines, engaging learning environments, and a shared commitment to our values, I have no doubt that this will be a year of growth, success, and connection for all.

Here’s to an incredible year ahead!

SWIMMING CARNIVAL

Organised by Mr Pollard and Mrs Freeman our Grades 3 - 6 students participated in the House Swimming Carnival. What a fabulous venue and what a fun filled, competitive day of sports action in spectacular sunny conditions at the new Carnegie pool.

A big thank you for community and teacher support and a thank you to Christina Kim (our old school nurse), who returned to CPS to support us in the absence of a newly recruited nurse. Much Gratitude.
