Principal Reflections

From the Principal - Alison

Thank you for your support in ensuring that the academic year has started in such a positive way. We have enjoyed a variety of events and celebrations including:

First day of school for our Kinder students

Meet and Greet afternoon

Ash Wednesday celebrations

Our P & F AGM

School Leaders Mass and Induction

Parent Reading Workshop

St Eddies Golf Day

School Swimming Carnival

Reconciliation Parent Information Session

School Advisory Council AGM

Thank you to the many teachers, parents, grandparents and carers who support our school by assisting with the coordination of these events. We really do appreciate and acknowledge your time and effort.

Our swimming carnival last Friday was a wonderful day. I was very impressed with the level of participation and sportsmanship demonstrated by the students who were in attendance. On Monday we recognised the achievements of 15 students who will represent St Ed's at the Diocesan Carnival. Thank you to Mrs Natasha Gippel for her coordination and commitment to ensuring that our swimming carnival was a fun and enjoyable day for all those present.

During my walks around the classrooms at each campus, I am noticing how calm and productive the learning is. Setting up routines and expectations is always challenging and requires commitment from teachers, support staff, students and parents/carers. Thank you for working with your child's teacher to ensure that we are providing the best conditions for all students to learn.

As you might understand not every child develops at the same pace as another. Young children are at different levels emotionally and their problem solving skills vary greatly. We are here to support, guide and monitor. Sometimes children may engage in unproductive behaviour during the school day. As teachers, our aim is to support our students by providing them with time and space to replace the unproductive behaviour, with the hope that when faced with a similar situation they will choose to draw on a toolkit of the positive self help strategies provided to demonstrate successful learning.

It is important to remember that we are all on the same team and the best success stories occur when parents, teachers and students are in a collaborative, respectful partnership. Our vision is to grow our staff and students to 'be the best versions of themselves'.

Finally, it was such a privilege to introduce our Year 6 leaders for 2024 at our Induction Mass on Tuesday. How lucky am I to have such a wonderful group of students to work and learn with this year. I too, am very excited about the year ahead and I know that together we will achieve great things. Congratulations!

Until next week,

Keep Smiling
