Primary Induction Assembly

Students were presented with Learner Attributes and Fruit of the Spirit Awards at yesterday's Primary Assembly. Well done to all students who received an award!

Congratulations to our 2024 Primary leaders who were inducted into their leadership positions at our special assembly hosted yesterday. It was exciting hearing from each Primary Leader who spoke on what their focus is about this year. We look forward to watching them grow into their leadership roles, working with and caring for their peers throughout the year. Our new leaders promised to lead with a servant, Christ-like, heart. They are all very excited to serve in our school community

How families change over time

(25 photos in this gallery)

Year 1 students have been busy learning about each other’s families as our current Unit of Inquiry is about how “Families change over time”. Students drew a picture of their families. We have been discussing both differences and similarities. Students interviewed the ‘oldest person’ they knew and investigated ‘what was the same’ and ‘what was different’ when they were a child. One student got to interview his 103 year old grandparent. He discovered that Coca Cola was already invented, and Sunday roast was a family tradition, however there was no internet and no computers. Some students discovered that TVs were black and white. But all grandparents attended school and had books. Some grandparents had to do more chores as a child and had less play time. It has been wonderful to hear this week from our students how each one helps in their family in different ways. Let’s all take time this week to enjoy our families!

Kinder Blueberry Farm Excursion

On Monday the Kinder students travelled by bus to Suess blueberry farm, where we discovered that Suess is German for "sweet." At the farm, we were shown the packing shed and listened as we heard the process of picking, sorting, packaging and transporting blueberries. We learnt that bees play an important role in the growing process and enjoyed tasting some that had already been picked. Next, we were lead to the blueberry trees and learnt the proper technique for picking berries. We then worked together to pick our own berries, many of which never made it to the container, but 3kg did make it back to the packaging shed where they were shared equally among the students to take home. During this excursion we were able to learn expected behaviours when travelling on a bus, walking in an unknown place and listening respectfully to others. It was a fantastic day and a great opportunity to enjoy God's creation and the good things He has made for us to enjoy.

Birthdays and Shared Food

We love to celebrate birthdays at the College. Students are honoured by their teachers and also presented with a birthday certificate and small treat from Mrs Mahoney’s birthday box.

If you would like to (with no obligation) send something along to school to help your child celebrate in their class, we highly recommend a non-food treat such as a pencil, bouncy ball or similar. The teacher will facilitate the distribution with the birthday child during class time.

A plate of shared food is discouraged for hygiene reasons and to mitigate the risk of illness across a class group.

We also have a considerable number of students with food allergies in our classes and our policy on a day-to-day basis is no food sharing to reduce the risk of an allergic or anaphylactic reaction.

Please contact your child’s class teacher a few days prior to sending any food in to be shared so we can cater for the students who will not be able to enjoy the treat. It is highly recommended that any food items be individually packaged wherever possible and the list of ingredient provided.

Please check your child's hair for head lice TODAY! (Repeat)

Head Lice have been found amongst the children in the Primary classes. Please check your child’s hair today!

Under Department of Education and Department of Health and Human Services policy, your child is required to remain away from school until after use of a recommended treatment and an attempt to remove all of the eggs (nits).
