District Swim Team

Congratulations to our District Swim Team on a great performance at MSAC on Thursday 7th March in the Seaside District Swim Carnival. Hampton PS placed 6th overall and had some outstanding swims and times. Our team showed excellent teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship and is to be commended on their conduct. Thank you to the teachers and parents who came to assist and spectate on the day.

Special mention to the Boys 9/10 Freestyle Relay Team, and Individual swimmers Oscar, Silla, Tasman and Jack who all won their races and made it through to the Divisional Swim Competition on 12th March.

Divisional Swim Team

The Division Carnival was an excellent display of swimming excellence and resilience. Our swimmers all competed exceptionally, many placing 3rd or 4th in their races.

Hampton PS would like to congratulate Silla G for an outstanding performance, winning both her individual races and setting a new divisional record for 50m 11 year old girls in both Freestyle (31.01 sec) and Butterfly (36.57 sec). Silla also still holds the backstroke record for 9-10 year old girls (43.79 sec), that she set at last year’s carnival, holding 3 divisional records. Fantastic effort Silla and we wish you all the very best at Regionals!

SEDA Melbourne Victory Clinics: A Winning Experience for Grade 3-6 Students

Our Grade 4-6 students recently took part in the SEDA Melbourne Victory Clinics, and all students have enjoyed the opportunity. Grade 3s will participate next week. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, our young athletes sharpened their soccer skills, honed techniques, and embraced the spirit of teamwork. From dribbling and passing to shooting and defending, each participant showed tremendous growth throughout the sessions. It was inspiring to see their confidence grow as they mastered new moves and tactics on the field. We extend our gratitude to Carlo Merlino and his coaches for providing such a rewarding opportunity.

Seaside District Tennis Competition – A Smashing Success

Congratulations to Wanda B in Grade 6 for her outstanding performance in the Seaside District Tennis Competition held on Tuesday, March 19th, in Sandringham. Wanda's remarkable talent and dedication shone brightly on the court, earning her the well-deserved title of competition winner. Her impressive skills and sportsmanship are a testament to her hard work and passion for the game. We applaud Wanda's achievement and look forward to witnessing her continued success in tennis and beyond.

STEAM

One of the joys when starting a new program is being able to start new traditions. Last year we had a competition among the students to give Room 7 a name. Last year Milla Hardie won the free Snack Shack lunch with her suggestion THE IMAGINATION STATION.

This year saw huge interest among all levels and when the competition closed the STEAM Team had received 173 entries. Unfortunately some very good entries had to be discarded as they submitted their entry without a name and class. After some careful sorting we discovered that THE BRAIN TRAIN and STEAM TRAIN were very popular suggestions with multiple entries from all levels.

The team then narrowed it down to a top 15, then a top 10 and finally a top three. Some fabulous names did not make it and they included: THE LAB OF WONDER, STEAM SQUAD, THE CRAFTY STEAM TEAM, THE RAD LAB, THE FASCINATION STATION, 'COLLAB' LAB, A STEAM COME TRUE, THE STATION OF IMAGINATION, THE FAB LAB, DREAM STEAM ROOM and FASCINATION FIELD.

The team then had three final names: STEAM PLANET, THE WONDER ROOM and THE PLACE TO DREAM. After much discussion among the team, including a coin toss to settle some indecision, the team settled on THE PLACE TO DREAM.

Congratulations Matilda Karlsson from 6C! She wins a free Snack Shack lunch of her choice and her name above the Room 7 door for 2024.
