School Closure Day Friday 8th March (no school for students)
St. Kevin’s is part of a Reading and Learning Collective comprising approximately 300 staff members. On this day, we will be coming together with guest presenter Brooke Wardana and we will focus on the Science of Learning with a specific focus on the theory and research underpinning teacher-led instruction, explicit instruction and using daily reviews effectively to improve student learning. We look forward to sharing more information about our learning after this day.
St Kevin’s Website
There has been an update to the school website format. At the moment I am searching for a creative filmmaker to create a short clip so that staff can be updated. If anyone in the community has any recommendations please let me know.
Linked to the website is our Parent Community Google Calendar. This has been added to the website as Parent feedback about the Compass calendar has been that it is difficult to access. I would appreciate your feedback.
Staff Update
Mr Andrew Puls (2P) is having a procedure and will be away from school from Term 1 Week 8 to Term 2 Week 8. Mr Louis Vescio will be taking Year 2 for that time. I am in the process of organising a replacement for PE. I wish Andrew a speedy recovery.
Ms. Cathy Pondeljak will commence work at St Kevin’s as the school’s Financial Administrator from Term 2 on a Monday and Tuesday as Tina concludes her time with us at the end of Term 1. Cathy will begin transition and handover in Term 1 Week 8 and Week 9. I thank Tina for all her hard work and dedication to St Kevin’s! We have learnt so much from her! She has an amazing work ethic and supersonic skills!
Compass and Seesaw Note
A note has been distributed to all families. The teachers will be collating this information and we will be communicating with families who are unable to access Compass and or Seesaw. Please return this note to school so we can take the next steps to getting everyone on board with these two digital platforms.
Congratulations 3/4 F & 3/4CC!
Languages Showcase
On Wednesday St Kevin’s will host a Languages Showcase for the learning of languages. Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Education (MACS) has organised the visit and each class will have an opportunity to share how we teach and practise Italian at St Kevin’s. This is a real authentic celebration of learning! Bravi!
Kinder visits 2024
In the last two weeks I visited 23 kindergartens and I have two more to go. It was interesting talking to teachers, Admin Staff and Managers. They are going through many changes with government initiatives and regulations. There were many discussions about Catholic Primary Schools and Government Primary Schools. Our reputation out in the community is outstanding and I was delighted to hear the positive feedback from different kindergartens. Our Year 3/4 students will be visiting kinders and sharing story time.
Existing Families with Preps for 2025
If you have a kinder child (4 year old), who will be at school next year, can you please come and collect an enrolment form and let the office know. I am in the process of making an online enrolment form and I will let you know as soon as it is ready. We are nearly there!
