Grade 4-6 House Swimming Carnival

The Grade 4 - 6’s experienced a wonderful swimming carnival on Monday 19th February at Mentone Aquatic Centre.  There were a mix of 50m races, 25m races and novelty events catering for all students. The Grade 6 House captains did a wonderful job leading their teams and cheering on each other. Bonus points awarded for this terrific behaviour made a difference in the final house points tally!

Another highlight was the teacher verse Grade 6 Freestyle Relay race. With an awesome teacher team this year of Ms Boucher, Ms Collins, Ms Lazzaro and Mrs Robinson, the teachers finished with a win, 😊

A big thank you to all teachers and parents who volunteered to help on the day. The District Swimming Team will compete again on Monday 4th March at Mentone Aquatic Centre.

House points and winning team overall was Arunyah.  Congratulations to Arunyah.

1st – Arunyah 265 points

2nd – Coolac 259 points

3rd – Kambara 215 points

4th – Tarmaroo 208 points

Think U Know Presentation

Our school will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation on Wednesday 6 March from 5.00-6.00pm. All parents, carers and teachers are invited to attend.

ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence-based education program delivered nationally to prevent online child exploitation. ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia. The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help-seeking behaviour. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.

School Council Nominations

Currently we have seven vacancies on school council, five parent vacancies and two staff vacancies.

In accordance with the Department of Education guidelines, we will be conducting an election to fill these vacancies.

If you are interested in nominating for school council, nomination forms will be available from the school office from 9.00am Thursday 22nd February. Nominations will close on Tuesday 5th March

Should there be multiple nominations for each position, we will conduct a ballot. Information will be distributed in the event a ballot is required.

Attached is the formal Notice of Election and Call for Nominations as well as an Information Fact Sheet for parents.
